Students from Southern and Northern High Schools participate in Regional ISEF Covestro Science Fair in Pittsburgh

Forty-two students from Northern and Southern High Schools participated in this year's Covestro ISEF Regional Science Fair held in Pittsburgh, PA at the Carnegie Science Center and Heinz Field on March 31 - April 1, 2017.  Students were accompanied by Mr. Jamie Beeman, Mrs. Erin Coffman, Mr. Brian Price, and Ms. Y. Michelle Harman.

Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities planned and coordinated by Carnegie Science Center as well as spend the night in the Science Center.  Judges and College/University Representatives interacted with the students and completed their judging and awards in preparation for Saturday's Awards Ceremony.  This year's event included over 1000 students from middle and high schools in the Pittsburgh area and Garrett County, MD.  One hundred five schools were represented with over 900 projects on display for individual and group entries.
 
Scholarship Winners from Garrett County included:
 
SHS - Tiara Sliger - Gannon University Scholarship ($8000; $2000 per year)
NHS - Angelo Ruggiero - Geneva College Scholarship ($10,000; $2500 per year)
NHS - Haley Ross - Juniata College Scholarship ($64,000; $16,000 per year)
NHS - Nicole Keister - Juniata College Scholarship (same as above)
NHS - Kayla Guthrie - Mt. Aloysius College Scholarship ($10,000; $2500 per year)
